Potato Harvest Season Commences in Northeast Syria
Syria – Monday, 23 June 2025 – A total of 1,891 farmers have been supported through the provision of essential agricultural inputs and equipment. In addition, some of these farmers benefited from a series of training sessions covering best practices in potato farming, Climate Smart Agriculture, and other relevant topics, aimed at strengthening their skills and enhancing overall productivity.
The majority of these farmers are now harvesting the lands they previously planted with potato tubers, with an average yield currently estimated at 30 metric tonnes per hectare.
This promising harvest is expected to improve farmers’ livelihoods, stimulate the local economy, and enhance food security across both governorates, while supporting sustainable crop production for at least two seasons.
