Multi-Sector Rehabilitation Initiative in Rural Damascus – Phase I

For the first time, following the fall of the Asaad Regime, the Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) has launched the project, “Multi-Sector Rehabilitation Initiative in Rural Damascus – Phase I” as part of its expansion into new areas.

This project aims to improve and restore community residents’ access to essential services, including water, enhance their wellbeing and support the early recovery of the targeted area in Rural Damascus.

The project is expected to:

  • Improve community members’ access to clean water and safe communal spaces.
  • Promote families’ and children’s psychosocial wellbeing.
  • Strengthen community social cohesion.

This will be done by implementing the following:

  • Rehabilitating an elevated water tank, through structural repairs, rubble removal, the installation of a new submersible pump and the provision of an electromechanical system to restore water pumping from a well.
  • Rehabilitating and revitalising a public park, through landscaping and architectural designs including tiling, the restoration of walkways, planting trees, installing benches, repairing lights and installing recreational equipment for children.

With a budget of around EUR 767,800, this project is expected to directly benefit around 80,000 individuals over a period of nine months, followed by six months for post-implementation monitoring and evaluation.
