The SRTF Delivers Seed Planting Machines to Support Farmers in Northern Aleppo

Aleppo – Thursday, 24 April 2025 – The SRTF delivered two automatic seed planting machines and mesh (gardening netting) under “Support Farmers for the Production of Wheat and Vegetable Crops in Northern Aleppo”.

The seed planting machines will be installed to germinate the vegetable seeds in the greenhouses, whereby the seeds and soil are put together into the machines, germinating the seeds automatically, aiming to save time, effort and money and increase productivity. Previously, seeds used to be germinated manually, seed by seed. The germinated seedlings, after five to six weeks, will be distributed to farmers to be transplanted into their open fields.

Furthermore, the mesh will be used to cover the greenhouses to allow airflow and protect the seedlings from sunlight when necessary.

Following a recent delivery earlier this month, in addition to delivering training sessions to farmers helping them adopt innovative farming techniques, such efforts combined will improve agricultural activities and farmers’ livelihoods by expanding harvest and production, thereby, contributing to establishing and maintaining sustainable farming practices while also attaining greater food security in the area.

With a budget of around EUR 3 million, this project is expected to directly benefit 4,000 farmers and their 20,000 family members, while indirectly benefitting an additional 95,000 people per month through the milling of the harvested wheat.
