The SRTF Continues Wheat Supply under its Multi-Phased Food Security Project in the North of Aleppo

Türkiye – Wednesday, 8 May 2024 - As part of the SRTF's commitment to support Food Security and to ensure the continuity of bread production at reasonable prices, the SRTF delivered 477 MT of soft wheat to the Implementing Entity of the project “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in the North of Aleppo Governorate – Phase VII".

This is the first batch, out of the 4,000 MT of soft wheat, that will be delivered during this project, which aims to replenish stocks of soft wheat to avoid a shortage of flour supply available for bakeries and maintain bread availability in the targeted communities, particularly focusing on areas with high concentrations of Internally Displace Persons (IDPs).

These grains will be milled into flour by six SRTF-supported mills, which are then supplied to five bakeries for the production and distribution of bread across seven locations.

For a budget of EUR 1.38 million, this project is expected to benefit 300,000 monthly beneficiaries. The total project duration is eight months, including six months for post-implementation monitoring and evaluation. Thousands of other individuals in the area will benefit from improved food security and well-being, the reactivation of the economy, and long-term sustainability.
