An Agriculture Project Completes the Distribution of Wheat Seeds and Delivers Tractors in Northeast Syria
Northeast Syria - Monday, 17 November 2025 – The SRTF announced the successful completion of distributing 502 metric tonnes (MT) of high-quality hard wheat. An Agriculture project, “Agricultural Support to Farmers in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor Governorates – Phase IX”, has successfully completed the delivery and distribution of 502 MT of high-quality wheat seeds to 753 farmers in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor governorates. Additionally, eight new tractors were delivered to the farmers’ cooperatives in those communities to support farmers.
This support will help farmers prepare for the new planting season and aims to restore livelihoods, strengthen regional food security, and promote community stability, while enabling sustainable crop production across the region.
The seeds and machinery were delivered to the four Farmers’ Cooperatives supported through this project and will be used by their members during the current wheat planting season.
Mohammad, a beneficiary farmer, said: “The SRTF distributed high quality wheat seeds to us farmers and we are very grateful for this. Such efforts are very beneficial, as us farmers used to buy the seeds and fertilisers using loans, but now we do not need to take loans. Our conditions are much better as we are heavily supported, thank you all. We are hoping that this year will be a better year for us. Last year, many farmers rented their lands as they were not able to cultivate them themselves, unlike this year where all farmers are able to cultivate their own lands and will be able to harvest them, God willing.”
Ahmad, the Head of one of the Farmers’ Cooperatives told the SRTF:"The farmers received wheat seeds for free, as many of them could not have been able to buy seeds without taking loans. We are very grateful for the Fund and its efforts."
This intervention aims to ease the planting process for farmers and strengthen regional food security while helping to restore livelihoods, enhance community stability, and promote sustainable crop production.
With a budget of EUR 1.82 million, the project is expected to directly benefit 753 farmers. Thousands more households will indirectly benefit through improved living conditions and enhanced food security across the region.
