Daily Bread for 250,000 Lives: Boosting Food Security in Northern Aleppo

Aleppo – Sunday, 20 April 2025 – Two fixed bakery lines were delivered and installed under Phase VI of “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in the North of Aleppo Governorate”.

These bakery lines are being installed in two bakery buildings that were previously established under this project.

Around 250,000 individuals will continue to enjoy high-quality and affordable bread as a result of such efforts, which, in combination with previous wheat deliveries, aim to increase bread production, thereby improving food security for the targeted communities and ensuring sustainability within the region.

This is part of one of the Fund’s most successful efforts under the Food Security sector in Northern Syria since its inception, as under this project’s previous phases, fixed and mobiles mills were established, sheds were built for mills and bakeries, bakeries were rehabilitated, wheat, packing sacks, safety tools, pesticides, conveyer belts, motorcycles for transporting various goods and items, safety clothes and protective equipment were delivered, and more bakery lines were delivered and installed. Training sessions were also provided to the relevant staff operating all the facilities. Such efforts ultimately benefited hundreds of thousands of families per month.

This project has an original budget of EUR 8.4 million and is expected to benefit around 250,000 individuals per month, over 18 months. Furthermore, under the Emergency Response, an additional budget of EUR 4 million was approved under this project, bringing its total budget up to EUR 12.4 million, benefitting thousands of other families who were affected by the 2023 earthquake in Northern Syria.
