United States Reaffirms Commitment to the SRTF Efforts in Syria with $5 Million in Contributions

Amman – Wednesday, 1 May 2024 - The SRTF is pleased to announce a significant contribution of USD 5 million (around EUR 4.66 million) from the United States through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to the SRTF.

    

This marks the sixth donation from the US Government since the establishment of the Fund, bringing the total amount of the US Government's contributions to a staggering EUR 59.32 million. With this latest funding, the total contributions by all donors to the SRTF has reached EUR 351.19 million.

 

The latest contribution not only reaffirms the United States' position as the second-largest donor to the SRTF since its inception but also highlights the unwavering commitment and support of the US Government towards the Fund's mission.

 

Jeanne Pryor, Deputy Assistant Administrator for USAID’s Bureau for the Middle East, reiterated the United States' steadfast backing for the SRTF and its impact on the ground, stating, "The United States remains committed to assisting the people of Syria in their journey towards recovery and resilience. Our continued investment in the SRTF reflects our belief in the Fund's ability to catalyse positive change and contribute to long-term stability in the region."

 

Eng. Hani Khabbaz, Director General of the SRTF, shared his reflections on the occasion, stating, "As we fold a decade of devoted service to the people of Syria and set our sights on the future, we express our heartfelt appreciation to the United States, one of the three original donors of the SRTF, for the latest contribution of USD 5 million and the unwavering support. The SRTF remains committed to igniting hope and empowering Syrians to rebuild their communities. With the ongoing backing of our donors, we are confident in our ability to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of Syrians."
