A Multi-Sectoral Project Completes the Installation of Greenhouses and Delivery of Training Sessions in Ar-Raqqa Governorate

Ar-Raqqa – Sunday, 1 March 2026 – A multi-sectoral project, “Enhancing Food Security and Agri-Livelihoods in Ar-Raqqa – Phase I” has completed the installation of greenhouse sets and delivery of training sessions to 100 farmers in Ar-Raqqa Governorate.

A total of 100 greenhouse sets have been delivered to the farmers who have completed installing them in their lands. Each of these greenhouses covers an area of 373.5 metres squared and is equipped with drip irrigation systems and heating systems to maintain optimal growing conditions. Other agricultural equipment and inputs will also be provided to farmers throughout the duration of the project.

Additionally, Climate Smart Agriculture training sessions were delivered to the farmers, covering topics including the use of greenhouses, best agricultural practices and business management, to prepare them for the planting, harvest and post-harvest processes and facilitate their journey. Meanwhile, mentorship visits continued to take place throughout the different stages of the installation of the greenhouses for better supervision and advisory, and to ensure farmers’ readiness for the upcoming activities.

The overall objective of this project is to strengthen food security and sustain the livelihoods of vegetable farmers. The combination of the abovementioned efforts will improve farmers’ resilience, increase food availability in the area and improve its quality, while simultaneously advancing economic conditions, ensuring financial sustainability, and strengthening community ownership and capacities.

With a budget of around EUR 630,000, this project will directly benefit 100 farmers and their 500 household members indirectly, over 10 months. Residents in surrounding communities will also benefit from improved food security and living conditions.
