An SRTF Health Project Successfully Closes in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor
Damascus - Tuesday, 11 November 2025 - The Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) is pleased to announce the successful completion and closure of its Health project titled “Support to One Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) and Two Dialysis Units (DUs) in Deir-ez-Zor and Ar-Raqqa Governorates – Phase II.”
This project effectively addressed critical gaps in the health sector by providing essential medications and medical consumables to one PHCC, as well as haemodialysis kits and medications to two dialysis units. Through these interventions, the project enhanced the quality of primary health care services delivered at the PHCC and improved the effectiveness and sustainability of life-saving haemodialysis services at the two units.
The SRTF remains committed to supporting vital health initiatives that strengthen local capacities, ensure continuity of essential services, and improve the overall well-being of communities in need.
A female patient at one of the DUs told the SRTF: “The presence of a dialysis centre in our area has enabled us to remain here. Without it, we would have had to search for another place to live in that offers the same services.”
Another female patient at the same centre said: “The cost of dialysis sessions is very high, and if they were not provided for free here, we would not have been able to afford them. Therefore, the main reason for my family's stability is the free availability of these services.”
A male patient said: “I save a significant amount of money due to these services, allowing me to spend more on food and other necessities.”
The SRTF Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, commented: “I am extremely proud of the remarkable achievements we have made in the Health sector, which reaffirm our steadfast commitment to improving the lives of those in need. Through the provision of essential, life-saving treatments, we have addressed urgent health gaps and brought hope to communities that have long lacked access to such critical services.
Our support does not end here. We continue to assist these health facilities under a new phase of implementation, ensuring the sustainability of their operations and contributing to the stability and resilience of the communities they serve. Our ultimate goal remains to reach even more beneficiaries and extend the impact of our work where it is needed most.”
With an approved budget, this project directly benefitted 10,818 patients, including 10,681 who received services at the PHCC and 137 who received dialysis sessions over a period of 12 months. Additionally, around 54,090 individuals who are members of patients’ households benefitted indirectly. Surrounding communities also benefitted through the improvement in overall health care and well-being in the area, as the project contributed to strengthening the general health care system and alleviating financial burdens on patients.
