The SRTF Holds an Opening Ceremony for a New Bakery in Northern Aleppo

Turkey – Monday, January 11, 2021 - The SRTF is pleased to announce the opening of a third bakery in northern Aleppo as part of its ongoing project, “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in Aleppo Governorate”. In celebration of its opening, the implementing entity (IE) held an opening ceremony in honor of the new bakery.

 

This multi-phase project aims to increase food security in the region by addressing the issue of shortages of wheat supply, flour mills, and bakeries. This new bakery will help secure bread production by producing an estimated 18,000 bread bundles per day (around 144,000 loaves) per day. In addition to increasing overall bread supply, the bakery also employs 29 local workers.

 

With an estimated budget of EUR 5.1 million and an 18-month duration, the SRTF has opened three bakeries under this project with the aim to improve food security in northern Aleppo to the direct benefit of 90,000 persons per day, and over 300 thousand people indirectly.
