The SRTF Launches Phase III Shelter Rehabilitation Project to Support Communities in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor
Damascus – Thursday, 26th March 2026 – The Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) is pleased to announce the approval of a new housing rehabilitation project aimed at improving living conditions in Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa. The project will be implemented in partnership with Acted.
Titled “Enhancing Safe and Dignified Housing in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor – Phase III” the initiative builds on the success of previous phases, which rehabilitated 1,400 shelters in Deir ez-Zor. This phase seeks to support returnees, including returnees from Al-Hol, and communities of return in ArRaqqa and Deir ez Zor governorates. It will deliver an integrated package combining shelter rehabilitation, livelihood support, and household food production.
With a total budget of EUR 1.7 million, the project is expected to benefit approximately 1,150 households. In addition, around 1,000 individuals will gain access to Cash-for-Work opportunities, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to an estimated 7,900 people.
On this occasion, the Director General of the Syria Recovery Trust Fund, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, stated:
“Through this new phase, the SRTF reaffirms its commitment to supporting communities of return by restoring safe and dignified living conditions. By combining shelter rehabilitation with livelihood opportunities, we aim to promote stability, resilience, and sustainable recovery for families affected by displacement and conflict, including returnees from Al-Hol camp, as well as families from communities of return.”
