Sustainable Agriculture Training Empowers Farmers in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor (Phase IX)
Damascus – Tuesday, 24 March 2026 – Phase IX of the SRTF’s Agriculture Project, “Agricultural Support to Farmers in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor Governorates,” has commenced the delivery of technical training sessions to 753 farmers from four farmers’ cooperatives.
These sessions are being conducted by trained agricultural engineers and cover key topics such as climate-smart agriculture, modern irrigation techniques, sustainable land management practices, and the safe use of pesticides and fertilisers. The training will continue over the coming weeks, equipping farmers with practical knowledge and skills to enhance their agricultural practices.
The initiative aims to strengthen farmers’ awareness and technical capacity, contributing to increased crop yields and improved productivity. It also promotes environmentally sustainable practices and supports long-term agricultural resilience. Ultimately, the project is expected to enhance regional food security and stability by improving farmers’ livelihoods and supporting local communities.
With a total budget of EUR 1.82 million, the project will directly benefit 753 farmers while indirectly supporting thousands of households through improved food availability and better living conditions.
