The SRTF Concludes Phase VI Health Support Project in Ar-Raqqa, Reaching Nearly 88,000 Patients
Ar-Aqqa - Tuesday, 30 December 2025 - The Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) has successfully concluded “Supporting Health Services in Ar-Raqqa Governorate – Phase VI,” a vital intervention aimed at ensuring continued access to quality healthcare services for vulnerable, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities in Ar-Raqqa city and surrounding areas.
The project, which was implemented by Action for Humanity (AFH), supported seven Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCCs) and the 10-bed ICU at Ar-Raqqa National Hospital, providing staffing, medical and non-medical equipment, operational support, and hybrid energy solutions to maintain uninterrupted services.
During the project period, 87,745 patients received 261,038 non-surgical medical consultations, along with maternal health services, laboratory and pharmacy care, psychosocial support, emergency referrals, and intensive care. Over 58,000 children and pregnant or lactating women were screened for malnutrition, while 216 qualified health staff were deployed across facilities. Community health awareness and psychosocial support sessions reached tens of thousands of individuals.
The installation of solar power systems with generators enhanced service reliability, while strengthened triage, 24/7 ambulance availability, and referral mechanisms improved emergency response and reduced morbidity and mortality.
Beneficiaries praised the project’s impact:
“The existence of this health facility in the area has helped alleviate the financial burden and the burden of traveling to the city for treatment.” - Female patient, Jalaa
“Living near the center has enabled me to save a lot of money, leading to a sense of satisfaction and stability. With the facility providing all healthcare services free-of-charge, I no longer worry about any financial issues.” - Male patient, Tal Elsamen Dahham
The SRTF Director General Eng. Hani Khabbaz released a statement on this occasion: "The successful completion of Phase VI in Ar-Raqqa demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that vulnerable communities have reliable access to essential healthcare services. Through strengthened facilities, trained staff, and resilient systems, we are not only improving health outcomes today but also building a foundation for a stronger, more sustainable health system for the future."
Beyond direct beneficiaries, the project indirectly supported 438,725 individuals, easing pressure on neighboring facilities and strengthening the local health system, contributing to safer and more dignified living conditions.
Total project disbursements amounted to EUR 1.89 million, with the remaining balance returned to the SRTF programmable budget per established procedures.
