The Netherlands Contributes an additional EUR 2 Million to the SRTF
Damascus – Thursday, 18 December 2025 – The SRTF is pleased to announce a new contribution of EUR 2 million from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This marks the Netherlands’ fifth contribution since the Fund’s inception, bringing its total support to EUR 10 million and raising cumulative donor contributions to approximately EUR 383.55 million.
The funds will be dedicated exclusively to supporting the dignified return and reintegration of returnees, including those returning from Al Hol Camp, and the communities of return in Ar-Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor Governorates.
Marja Esveld of the Netherlands’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated: “The Netherlands continues supporting the SRTF’s vital work on the ground in Syria. A year after the liberation, the challenges of reintegration and rebuilding remain immense. We recognise that aiding returnees in settling back into their communities and restoring social cohesion is critical for long-term stability. Given the ongoing contextual developments, our priority is to help create safe, resilient environments where people can rebuild their lives with dignity. We are proud to stand alongside the SRTF in achieving these remarkable milestones.”
The Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz expressed his gratitude, saying: “We are deeply grateful for the new contribution from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which will support efforts to stabilise communities of return and returnees, including those returning from Al Hol Camp, by enabling dignified return and reintegration, while strengthening social cohesion in the targeted communities. These initiatives deliver immediate, tangible improvements and generate lasting impact, helping returnees build resilience and feel safe and secure within their communities.”
