The SRTF Successfully Completes Multi-Sectoral Energy and Water Project in Ar-Raqqa and Deir ez Zor
Damascus- Wednesday, 17 December 2025 - The SRTF’s multi-sectoral initiative, “Provision of Sustainable Energy and Clean Water Systems in Northeast Syria (NES)”, has successfully completed all planned activities in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor governorates.
As part of the project, solar energy systems with capacities of 8 kW, 15 kW, and 50 kW were installed across 37 schools, 23 health centres, and two hospitals. In parallel, reverse osmosis (RO) water purification systems with capacities of 100 L/hr and 200 L/hr were installed in 59 schools and health centres and two technical training centres. Additionally, four atmospheric water generators—which produce water from humidity—were deployed in two hospitals and two health centres.
To ensure the sustainability and efficiency of these systems, spare parts were provided to 59 facilities, and 66 technical training sessions were delivered to staff on the operation and maintenance of solar and RO systems. These measures will enable schools and health facilities to provide reliable access to potable water and eco-friendly electricity, enhancing the quality and efficiency of essential services.
The SRTF Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz stated: “We are delighted to have reached this milestone. By introducing advanced and environmentally friendly technologies, our projects can deliver essential services more efficiently and sustainably, while reaching those most in need. We look forward to continuing this momentum across vital sectors that are key to supporting and strengthening our beloved Syria.”
With a budget of around EUR 2.73 million, this project aims to directly benefit at least 44,890 individuals while benefitting over one million residents in the area indirectly.
