The SRTF Empowers 700 Farmers in Tartous with Skills for Resilient, Sustainable Farming

Tartous – Sunday, 14 December 2025 – The SRTF Agriculture project, “Agriculture Support in Rural Communities in Tartous,” has completed technical training sessions for 700 farmers across four communities.

A total of 24 sessions were delivered over seven weeks, with each farmer attending two sessions. The training covered home-garden set-up and management, farming practices, soil and water conservation, production and use of organic pesticides and fertilisers, mulching techniques, and other regenerative agriculture methods. These sessions are aimed at strengthening farmers’ knowledge, skills, and capacities in preparation for establishing their own home gardens.

These efforts, combined with improved access to essential farming inputs, support the project’s broader objective of enhancing farmers’ livelihoods and resilience, particularly for women-headed households and youth, while increasing food availability and improving its diversity. This will help reduce reliance on negative coping mechanisms and promote sustainable agricultural production.

With a budget of around EUR 434,118, the project directly benefits 700 farmers and is expected to indirectly benefit their 3,500 household members over a six-month period.
