The SRTF Successfully Completes a Health Intervention in Northeast Syria

Northeast Syria – Monday, 13 February 2023 – The SRTF announced the successful completion and closure of its Health intervention, 'Provision of Primary and Specialised medical Services in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate” today.

 

The intervention aimed to support the activities of primary healthcare services including a level-3 Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC), a level-4 PHCC, one mobile clinic, one central laboratory, one thalassemia centre, one central blood bank; in addition to the distribution of 50 non-communicable diseases (NCD) kits to health facilities.

 

Through this intervention, beneficiaries were provided access to needed primary health care (PHC) services that were not previously available for several years due to the conflict. These services related to a central laboratory services, a thalassemia centre, and a central blood bank in one hospital at the beginning and later at a second hospital starting from April 2022 after the Management Committee’s approval on the change of location due to the continued security incidents in one location.

 

Additionally, 19 health facilities in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate were provided with 50 NCD kits thus, providing patients diagnosed with chronic diseases the required medications during the intervention’s life cycle. Around 54,484 students and 7,516 administrative staff in 589 schools in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate were provided with personal protective equipment (a box of 50 masks each). Thus, providing these beneficiaries with protective equipment to safeguard against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

 

The total allocated Budget for this intervention was EUR 2.3 million of which around EUR 163,000 were released back at the end of its life cycle to the SRTF’s funds. The total number of beneficiaries reached is 184,764 patients benefiting from health services delivered at two PHCCs and one mobile clinic.
