The SRTF Launches Rubble Removal Awareness Campaign in Northern Aleppo

Türkiye – Wednesday, March 24, 2021 – The first phase of the SRTF’s solid waste and rubble removal project, “Rubble Removal in Eight Communities in Aleppo Governorate” made progress in its rubble removal activities. So far, 60,764 m3 of rubble has been removed from four sites in Aleppo Governorate. Additionally, 24,295 m2 of two main roads have been rehabilitated.

In addition to the rehabilitation and rubble removal works, the project received two service cars to help the technical teams transit between work sites. Finally, in an effort to introduce the project to the impacted communities, 45 sets of Warning Signs were delivered to help raise awareness and teach people how to treat rubble remnants. These warning signs included 10 cones, 500 meters of warning tape, and three sets of warning boards, as well as 15 road boards.

This project is worth EUR 3.5 million and is expected to impact 339,100 residents in four targeted communities in Northern Aleppo.
