The SRTF Delivers Polypropylene Sheets, Covers and Straps for Farmers in the Northern Countryside of Aleppo Governorate

Turkey – Wednesday, 29 November 2017 - The SRTF Management Unit (MU) delivered a large quantity of polypropylene sheets, high density polypropylene (HDPE) covers and straps to the implementing entity (IE) of its national "Reestablishing Seed Production and Multiplication Programmes in Aleppo, Idleb, and Hama Governorates" in the northern countryside of Aleppo Governorate today.  The delivery took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border.

The delivery included 150 rolls of polyethylene film sheets (48 X 9 meters each), 300 covers of HDPE woven-coated material (24 X16 meters each) and 600 straps of 4 cm width (150 meters each). Local farmers in Aleppo countryside will use the delivered goods to protect their produce of wheat and other grains from external agents and environmental effects.

Worth approximately EUR 3.3 million, the project is tackling the lack of reliable equipment, consumables and logistics. It is expected to benefit about 9.250 farming households in the targeted areas directly. The project is also contributing to an improved life quality for the entire local population of the targeted areas as a result of an increased availability of grains, legumes and other food stuff.
