The SRTF Successfully Concludes Health Project Benefitting More Than 61,000 People in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor

Damascus – Thursday, 16 July 2026 - The Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) has successfully concluded the project "Supporting Health Services in Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor Governorates", reinforcing access to essential healthcare services for conflict-affected communities and contributing to the continuity of life-saving medical care in northeastern Syria.

Implemented by Action for Humanity (AFH), the EUR 1.73 million budget project helped sustain critical healthcare services for 61,857 unique direct beneficiaries across Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor governorates.

Through this intervention, the project supported the operation of seven Primary Health Care Centres (PHCCs), the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Ar-Raqqa National Hospital, as well as maternity and newborn health services at Hajin Hospital.

The project also ensured the uninterrupted operation of Hajin Hospital by supporting 24/7 emergency services, outpatient consultations, maternal and neonatal healthcare, inpatient services, and critical care provided through the hospital's High-Dependency Unit (HDU).

Across the seven supported PHCCs, communities continued to benefit from a comprehensive package of primary healthcare services, including outpatient consultations, laboratory diagnostics, pharmacy services, malnutrition screening, and Basic Emergency Obstetric Care (BEmOC), helping improve access to quality healthcare, particularly for women, children, and vulnerable populations.

The successful completion of this project reflects the SRTF's continued commitment to supporting Syria's recovery by restoring and maintaining essential public services, improving access to healthcare, and helping communities rebuild with dignity and resilience.
