The SRTF Delivers the First of Two Flour Mills Destined to Aleppo and Idleb Governorates

Turkey – Friday, 4 November 2016 – The SRTF Management Unit today delivered a milling plant to the implementing entity of its “Enhancing Food Security of Aleppo and Idleb Governorates” project. This is the first of two plants destined to the two governorates under this project. The delivery took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border in coordination with the Turkish authorities.

Worth a total of EUR 13.7 million, the project aims to ensure the availability of bread for the local population in moderate opposition held areas; thus, indirectly benefiting over 2 million people. This is being done by means of importing wheat, procuring locally-grown wheat, importing hessian sacks for transportation of the commodity and providing milling facilities and other support mechanisms for local bakeries.
