The SRTF Delivers Orthopedic Implants and Devices for Two Hospitals in Idleb Governorate

Turkey – Friday, 12 August 2016 – The SRTF Management Unit today delivered a large quantity of orthopedic implants and devices for a hospital in Idleb Governorate. The delivery, which included almost 2000 items worth EUR 772,000, took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian borders in coordination with the Turkish authorities. It is estimated that these supplies will satisfy the hospital’s needs for one year.

The SRTF “Supply of Orthopedic Implants and Devices to Two Hospitals in Idleb Governorate” project, under which the delivery was made, aims to enable two hospitals in Idleb Governorate to resume surgeries and treatments of patients in acute phases of orthopedic events, resulting from malformation and disability. Such services were suspended as the regime in Damascus stopped its supplies to hospitals in opposition-held areas following the outbreak of the conflict.

Worth a total of EUR 2 million, the project is expected to positively impact about 6,000 orthopedic patients over the course of one year.
