Ar-Raqqa – Sunday, 23 December 2018 –The SRTF completed the delivery and distribution of hessian sacks to framers in three communities in Ar-Raqqa Governorate as part of its stabilization intervention, Agriculture Support to Farmers – Phase I.

The distribution of hessian sacks will directly benefit the farmers and allow better storage for their crops that will be produced from the winter plantation season.

Commenting on this progress, the SRTF Director General Eng. Hani Khabbaz highlighted “the positive impact of suppling farmers with hessian sacks, which are ideal to store wheat which is moisture sensitive” He added: “This intervention helps to lay the foundation of security and stability for rural populations recovering from the terror of Daesh.”

At a total cost of 4.1 million EUR, this activity targets 2100 farmers and their families cultivating approximately 2500 hectares of land in three rural communities northeast of Ar-Raqqa City in the irrigated basin.

The activity is part of the wider “Filling the Void”, three-phase program currently being implemented by the SRTF. Through rapid assistance to critical sectors, the intervention provides immediate relief and stabilization to Syrians living in areas liberated from Daesh.
