An SRTF Food Security Project Receives its First Shipment of Soft Wheat in Northern Aleppo

Türkiye – Wednesday, 21 September 2022 – The SRTF Food Security project: “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in the North of Aleppo Governorate – Phase VI” received its first lot of soft wheat amounting to 356.80 MT out of a total of 13,000 MT to be supplied under this project.

The project aims to ensure a sustainable supply of soft wheat and bakery equipment, whereby the wheat will be milled and used for making good quality Syrian bread at bakeries established under phase V of this project.

The increased availability of improved bread quality in the area is estimated to directly benefit around 250,000 individuals per month across eight different locations in Northern Aleppo, over a period of 18 months.

With an allocated budget of EUR 8.4 million, this project is one of many SRTF efforts committed to promote and improve food security across Syria.
