The SRTF Provides Reliable Electricity to 8,000 Households in Northern Aleppo

Türkiye’ – Sunday,  June 27, 2021 – The SRTF’s electricity project, “Rehabilitation of the Medium and Low Voltage Grid in Urban, Sub-urban and Rural Communities in a Northern District in Aleppo”, successfully completed and closed. This project resulted in 8,000 households (around 48,000 people) receiving electricity via the public grid as of September 2020; 100% of the residents in one of the targeted areas received 24 hours per day of electricity.

These positive results stemmed from the project’s rehabilitation works of the low and medium voltage networks. This project rehabilitated over 27 kilometers (km) and 53 km of low and medium voltage networks, respectively.

In addition to rehabilitating the low and medium voltage networks, 100% of the interviewed beneficiaries agreed that the frequency of unexpected electricity outages has decreased over the last six months and that power supply quality became more satisfying and reliable compared to what it was before the SRTF’s involvement.

This project aimed to strengthen the distribution networks in Northern Aleppo to provide reliable electricity from the supply source, reduce power losses due to overloading, and reduce the problem of frequent electricity cuts due to a deteriorating network. This project had a budget of EUR 1.69 million and came in under budget. The additional funds will be dispersed back into the Program’s funds and used for future impactful projects.
