The SRTF Emergency Response Plan Delivers Stoves and Heating Material to Camps in Northern Aleppo

Türkiye Monday, 26 December 2022 The SRTF, in partnership and collaboration with the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) and the Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces (SOC), which chairs the Steering Board of the SRTF, complete the delivery of 2,798 stoves and 94.6 MT of heating material (Birin) to camps under the Emergency Response Plan (ERP), in Northern Aleppo, today.

The stoves were delivered to 2,798 internally displaced families, benefiting around 18,000 individuals, and the heating material was delivered to 1,892 internally displaced families, benefiting around 11,352 individuals who are in great need for this support to combat severe winter conditions ahead.

The overall aim of the ERP is to provide emergency assistance to internally displaced people (IDPs) living under extremely harsh conditions in IDP camps.

Since the ERP’s inception at the beginning of 2022, the support included the delivery of 3,000 tents and 8,000 food rations, and today the delivery and distribution of the stoves and heating material was completed.

In a statement from Hadi Al Bahra, the SOC representative and Chairman of the Steering Board of the SRTF, he commented: “Internally displaced people, like all human beings, have a right to live with dignity. And through our collaboration with the SRTF, we are committed to supporting their needs especially that the overwhelming majority of IDPs are women and children left to fend for themselves in harsh circumstances.”

The SRTF Director General Eng. Hani Khabbaz stated: "The SRTF is committed to support displaced families in Northern Syria under the Emergency Response Plan. The living conditions of the IDPs continue to deteriorate every year, especially around the wintertime, we are glad to have been able to alleviate the suffering of some by providing assistance.”

With a budget of EUR 2.05 million, this year’s ERP is expected to benefit a total of 18,000 internally displaced families (averaging 108,000 individuals), throughout its lifecycle. The SRTF is committed to ensuring the most marginalised internally displaced families are kept warm and have enough food this winter.
