New Contributions from Germany and Denmark to the SRTF Bring the Total Contributions to Over EUR 250 Million

Washington – Saturday,  7th  December 2019 – The Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) announced that it has received additional contributions of Euro 10 million from Germany, and 30 million Danish Kroner  (approximately EUR 4 million) from Denmark in support of its stabilization efforts in areas liberated from Daesh in the North East of Syria today. The new funds raise the total amount of paid contributions by Germany to EUR 48.7 million and the total paid contribution by Denmark to EUR 13.5 million.  The contribution was announced during the SRTF’s Steering Board (SB) Meeting held in Washington DC on December 3rd 2019.

 

The SRTF Director-General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the generous support granted by Germany and Denmark and for the trust given by all donor countries to the SRTF as an effective tool to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people to this day. In a released statement, he said: “The additional resources to the SRTF will enable us to continue work on stabilization projects, build on existing achievements, and expand our activities to reach, and serve a larger number of communities liberated from Daesh.”

 

With the additional funds, the total contributions received by the SRTF from 12 donor countries exceeds EUR 250 million (approximately US $ 277 million); of which EUR 53 million is allocated to support the stabilization program in areas liberated from Daesh. Notably, the SRTF’s other donors are the United States of America, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Finland, Japan, the United Kingdom, Kuwait, France, Italy and the Netherlands.
