The SRTF Starts Livestock Vaccination in Idleb Governorate

Gaziantep – Tuesday, 28 June 2016 – Livestock vaccination trials were carried out under the SRTF “Reestablishment of the Livestock Vaccination Programme in Selected locations of the Idleb Governorate” project this week. The vaccination trials follow the SRTF delivery of a large quantity of livestock vaccines across the Turkish-Syrian borders last Wednesday (22/6/2016) to the implementing entity in Idleb Governorate.

At this stage, the vaccination programme is targeting the Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) and the Sheep & Goat Pox disease as well as Clostridial diseases and Pasteurellosis.

The project aims to reduce and eventually eliminate the presence of the various livestock diseases that have proliferated in the governorate following the outbreak of conflict and suspension of the national vaccination services by the Damascus regime in opposition held areas.
