The SRTF Delivers Vaccines to Combat Livestock Diseases in Idleb Governorate

Gaziantep – Wednesday, 22 June 2016 – The SRTF Management Unit today carried out a delivery of a large quantity of vaccines against the Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) affecting livestock in various localities of Idleb Governorate. The delivery took place today at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border in coordination with the Turkish authorities.

 

The livestock vaccination efforts is part of the SRTF “Reestablishment of the Livestock Vaccination Programme in Selected Locations in Idleb Governorate” project, which seeks to address the a substantial increase in livestock deaths due proliferation of animal diseases in the governorate. The problem emerged as a result of the suspension of vaccination services following the outbreak of the conflict. Under the same project, a second delivery containing vaccines against Sheep & Goat Pox diseases also affecting livestock herds in the governorate will be delivered in the next few days.
