The SRTF Delivers Hessian Sacks to Farmers within Phase II of its “Agriculture Support to Farmers” Project in Ar-Raqqa Governorate
Ar-Raqqa - Monday 13 May 2019 - The Syria Recovery Trust Fund began the delivery process of hessian sacks to farmers in four communities in Ar-Raqqa Governorate today under its "Agriculture Support to Farmers - Phase II”. The delivery will help farmers better store their agricultural harvest this season.
The SRTF Director General, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, emphasized the positive impact of providing farmers with hessian sacks which are ideal for wheat storage and protection from various elements, especially humidity. He added: "this intervention continues to help lay the foundation for food security and stability for those working hard to rebuild their lives in Ar-Raqqa Governorate free from the terror of Daesh."
The intervention is the second of a three-phase plan to support farmers in areas liberated from Daesh. Worth EUR 6.3 million, the intervention will benefit over 1,000 local farmers, their households and associated workers. Cultivating over 4,000 hectares of land, the intervention will further benefit surrounding areas by strengthening the local economy with increased food security.
