Support for Health Services in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate
Based on the successes of previous projects, the Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF) launched “Support for Health Services in Deir-ez-Zor Governorate”, to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential health care services in health facilities.
Through this project, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Deir-ez-Zor Health Directorate, the SRTF aims to maintain the delivery of services in facilities, including two hospitals, two primary health care centres (PHCCs) and two haemodialysis centres, that were assigned under previous projects.
This is expected to:
- Ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential health care services across Deir-ez-Zor Governorate.
- Rehabilitate infrastructure.
- Strengthen the resilience of the local health systems.
- Increase the availability and reliability of the available health information.
- Address the current gaps within the Health sector.
This will be achieved by implementing the following:
- Continuing the delivery of health care services at all facilities; two hospitals, two PHCCs and two haemodialysis centres, including consultations, diagnostic services, natural deliveries, caesarean deliveries, malnutrition screenings for pregnant and lactating women and children under five years old, paediatric services, emergency services, surgeries, intensive care unit services and dialysis sessions.
- Continuing the delivery of pharmaceutical, radiology and laboratory services at the relevant facilities.
- Procuring and delivering medical equipment, consumables and medication to all facilities.
- Conducing rehabilitation works at one hospital and the two PHCCs.
- Providing training sessions and technical support to medical personnel and staff at facilities.
- Covering the operational costs of all facilities and staff.
This is anticipated to:
- Ensure the continuity of critical health care services.
- Improve medical services at all hospital departments.
- Improve the response to needs in the area.
- Maintain employment opportunities for medical workers
- Enhance prevention health care and community psychosocial wellbeing.
- Sustain continuous life-saving dialysis services.
- Enhance institutional capacity and facility staff’s technical skills.
- Ensure sustainability and transition towards national ownership.
With a budget of around EUR 1.51 million and over a period of four months, this project is expected to directly benefit 48,295 patients and at least 241,475 individuals indirectly, in addition to 360 staff members. It will also benefit over 1.62 million individuals in the area, through improved health conditions as the health system and institutional capacity are enhanced.
