The SRTF Installs a Flour Mill in a City of Idleb Governorate

Turkey – Wednesday, 22 February 2017 – The SRTF Management Unit announced today that it has completed the installation of a milling plant in a city of Idleb Governorate under the SRTF “Enhancing food security of Aleppo and Idleb Governorates” project. The milling plant will ensure a timely supply of flour to local bakeries. Another flour mill was earlier installed in another location under the same project. Specialized teams installed the mills under the supervision of the project’s implementing entity.

The project seeks to address the current food insecurity in the two governorates by setting up milling plants to supply flour to local bakeries, importing soft wheat and procuring local hard wheat for the required formula of producing Syrian bread, importing hessian sacks, etc. Worth approximately EUR 13.7 million, the project is also addressing the problem of low quality fuel affecting the functioning of electricity generators of the installed mills to avoid interruption of their power supply. The project is expected to ensure the availability of bread for the daily consumption of some 2 million beneficiaries.
