The SRTF Completes a 15,000 Ton Wheat Delivery to the North of Aleppo Governorate

Türkiye – Monday, 28th October 2019 The SRTF management unit (MU) announced the completed delivery of a 15,000 tons soft wheat shipment to its implementing entity (IE) under project: “Complementary Project for Enhancing Food Security in the North of Aleppo Governorate – Phase II” today.

This shipments of wheat completed under this project were distributed to two locations.  The IE will ensure mix the SRTF-supplied soft wheat with Syrian hard wheat at SRTF-supplied flour mills and distributes the produced flour to bakeries in the governorate, the flour will be supplied to bakeries at reasonable costs to make the bread available at affordable prices at targeted communities.

An expected 175,000 persons will benefit each month from the increased production of bread as a result of this project that comes at a total cost of EUR 6.2 million. Additionally, the project will generate employment opportunities for over 2,000 in the transport, service, and production industries, and it will also help sustain existing livestock populations through the availability of bran, a byproduct of wheat milling, as animal feed and with that leave a significant impact on the lives of all people in the project area.
