The SRTF Completes the Demolition Process of One Damaged Bridge in Ar-Raqqa Governorate

Ar-Raqqa – Wednesday, 13 March 2019 - The Syria Recovery Trust Fund announced today the successful demolition and debris removal of one destroyed bridge as part of its “Agricultural Support to Farmers-Phase I” project under the SRTF’s stabilization efforts in Ar-Raqqa Governorate.

The completed demolition and removal are important preparatory steps as the SRTF will replace the destroyed bridge with a temporary steel bridge later this spring season. In total, SRTF will install two temporary steel bridges in targeted areas which will ensure easy movement of farmers to and from their lands.

The “Agricultural Support to Farmers-Phase I” project targets 2,100 farmers and their families cultivating approximately 2,500 hectares of land in three rural communities northeast of Ar-Raqqa City. It is part of a three-phase intervention including phases (II & III) which were launched in 2018 at a total cost of EUR 16 million, serving 14 communities in Ar-Raqqa Governorate.
