The SRTF Delivers Medium Voltage Switchgear for the Electricity Grid in Aleppo Governorate

Turkey – Friday, 4 November 2016 – The SRTF Management Unit today delivered goods comprising medium voltage switching gear for electricity distribution under its “Rehabilitation and Maintenance of High Voltage Grid in Selected Areas of Aleppo Governorate” project. The delivery took place at a zero point on the Turkish-Syrian border in coordination with the Turkish authorities.

Worth approximately EUR 3.5 million, the project provides maintenance for 10 high voltage sub-stations in order to prevent breakdowns of transformers. Such breakdowns would ultimately result in widespread and extended power disruption with extremely expensive ramifications and much suffering for the local population.

Through the urgently needed maintenance of the network and replacement of spare parts, switchgear and transformers, it will ensure that no damage occurs throughout the grid; thus, granting electricity power supply for some 2 million beneficiaries in liberated areas of Aleppo.
