The SRTF Delivers 12 Motorized Sprayers to its Project Enhancing Food Security of Aleppo and Idleb Governorates

Turkey - Wednesday May 15  2019 - The Syria Recovery Trust Fund delivered 12 motorized backpack mist sprayers to the Implementing Entity (IE) of its project: "Enhancing Food Security of Aleppo and Idleb Governorates" today.

The equipment will be used to sterilize wheat warehouses by spraying pesticides ahead of the wheat storage process in order to protect local wheat and other stored crops. The locally produced Syrian hard wheat is essential for mixing with imported soft wheat which is used for the production of the traditional Syrian bread.

As a result of this project, some 2 million consumers are expected to benefit from the ongoing supply of flour to local bakeries in targeted areas.

Valued at Euro 13.7 million and, upon completion, the project is expected to have a positive impact in restoring local farmers' and the community’s confidence in the cereal market while enhancing food security at the household level, and achieve economic growth.
